Washington, USA – Politico recently revealed emails from Jeffrey Epstein archive that reveal his attempts
to interfere in the 2018 Helsinki summit between US President Donald Trump
and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
The messages showed that Epstein sought to present himself as
an intermediary between Moscow and Washington,
I suggested to a Russian official that he use his knowledge of Trump
to convey insights about him to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
This is an attempt to influence the course of the summit.
Valuable information for Russia
Epstein also claimed that he had previously spoken with the late Russian ambassador
to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, about Trump’s personality.
He explained that he understands the US president well and that he
can provide valuable information to the Russian side.
Jeffrey’s emails also revealed his exchange of views
with other US officials about the summit’s outcomes.
Some expressed concern that Russia might possess potentially
damaging information about Trump.
Meanwhile, Epstein believed that Trump thought the summit went very well.
Political mediator
It is still unclear whether Epstein’s attempt to arrange any
formal meeting with Russian officials was successful.
Or its actual impact on the summit’s outcomes.
Epstein tried to present himself as a political mediator between Washington
and Moscow ahead of the Helsinki summit.
The messages also reveal his desire to pass on information about Trump to the Russian side.
The interaction between US officials and the controversial messages
is reigniting the debate about the impact of personal relationships on international politics.
