Japan – In a diplomatic gesture reflecting the depth of Arab-Japanese relations, the Japanese government awarded the Order of the Rising Sun – Gold and Silver Star to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. This was in recognition of his outstanding contributions to strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the Arab world and Japan, and his prominent role in promoting mutual understanding between the two peoples.
The Order of the Rising Sun is one of Japan’s highest honors bestowed upon foreign dignitaries who have made a significant impact on international relations. Tokyo expressed its deep appreciation for Abu El-Gheit’s efforts in fostering political, economic, and cultural partnership between the two countries. They affirmed that this honor is a culmination of a long and fruitful diplomatic career.
For his part, the Secretary-General expressed his gratitude for this high honor. He praised the distinguished Arab-Japanese relations and the commitment of both sides to developing them in various fields, especially in light of current regional and international challenges.
It is worth noting that Japan attaches particular importance to strengthening cooperation with the League of Arab States. This is achieved through the Arab-Japanese Dialogue mechanism, which serves as an important platform for exchanging views on issues of development, peace, and stability in the Middle East and Asia.
