Beijing, China – The seventh session of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum in the field of radio and television will be held in the Chinese city of Chongqing from November 4 to 6.
This is in implementation of the media component of
the executive program of the Arab-Chinese Forum.
This is done in cooperation between the Media
and Communication Sector of the League of Arab States,
the Chinese National Radio and Television Corporation,
and the Arab States Broadcasting Union.
The forum will be attended by ministers of information, heads of media institutions,
and officials from radio and television organizations in Arab countries and the People’s Republic of China.
This confirms the depth of media relations between the two sides,
and their endeavor to strengthen the partnership in the audio-visual field.
New horizons
In this context, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media
and Communication Sector at the League of Arab States,
who is leading the General Secretariat delegation, stated:
The convening of this session represents a significant sign of the strong
will to advance Arab-Chinese media cooperation and explore new horizons.
To reinforce the vital role of the media in conveying a realistic, objective,
and comprehensive picture of common issues,
to consolidate the values of peace, human, civilizational and cultural communication among peoples.
Ambassador Khattabi noted that the session is being held under the slogan:
“Exchange of Arab and Chinese Civilizations and Audiovisual Innovation: A Shared Gain”
Chinese program exchange and training
It will feature two dialogue sessions discussing cooperation in audiovisual media content in the digital media age.
And enabling technology to serve the high-quality development of the media industry.
This is in addition to events and field visits by Arab delegations to Chinese media institutions.
This is to learn about program exchange and training opportunities.
The uses of artificial intelligence in improving the quality of content and media production.
Cultural and civilizational interaction
The ambassador affirmed that the results of the seventh session will constitute
a new building block in the path of Arab-Chinese cooperation in the field of media.
Building a media landscape that reflects the depth of civilizational
and cultural interaction, and opens up broader horizons
for the exchange of technical and digital expertise.
He explained that the regularity of holding the Chinese Forum since its launch in 2011 has resulted
in a series of professional agreements and partnerships
between Arab media bodies and their Chinese counterparts.
This includes multifaceted cooperation with the Arab States Broadcasting Union,
which comprises public radio stations and a range of private channels.
The delegation from the General Secretariat includes, in addition to the head of the sector,
Ambassador Ahmed Mustafa Fahmy, head of the League of Arab States mission in Beijing,
and Mr. Bashir Harjani, Minister Plenipotentiary in the Department of Information.
