Washington, DC – US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated on Friday during the Manama Dialogue that the previous US strategy of “regime change or nation-building” ended under President Donald Trump.
Gabbard added that the United States now adopts a pragmatic, deal-based approach. This approach focuses on protecting American security and prosperity and building peace.
As a former combat soldier and security policy expert, she noted that she had personally witnessed “the heavy price of war.” She emphasized that Trump’s approach focused on achieving tangible gains for the United States and on promoting peace and shared prosperity.
Gabbard argued that Washington’s traditional approach, which has persisted for decades, has led the United States into a vicious cycle of military interventions. It has also resulted in attempts to impose the American model on others, leading to trillions of dollars wasted, enormous human losses, and the emergence of terrorist threats like ISIS.
She added that Trump came to put an end to this approach. He did so through a realistic and pragmatic approach, engaging effectively with the world on clear and logical grounds. He focused on national security and American economic prosperity.
Gabbard emphasized that the new US policy is shifting from excessive military intervention to a focus on practical outcomes and realistic agreements. This move aims to minimize losses and maximize global stability.
