Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistani authorities announced the killing of an officer and five soldiers from their armed forces during violent clashes with a group of militants near the border with Afghanistan.

The Pakistani Ministry of Defense stated that forces repelled a terrorist

attack targeting a security post in the border region of Waziristan.

This led to a battle and clashes on the border that lasted for hours

and also resulted in the death of seven armed elements.

Pakistan confirmed that combing operations are still ongoing in

the area to prevent the infiltration of any other groups.

She noted that the attack reflects the escalating activity of extremist groups along the border strip.

This is despite joint efforts with the Afghan side to establish security and stability.
