Lebanese President receives Egyptian intelligence chief

Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun received at Baabda Palace the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service,

Minister Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, at the head of an accompanying delegation.

The ceremony was attended by the Director General of Public Security,

Major General Hassan Choucair, and the Director of Army Intelligence, Brigadier General Antoine Kahwaji.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Rashad conveyed to President Aoun

the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

He wished him success in leading Lebanon to a “safe shore,

stressing Egypt’s commitment to supporting Lebanon and its stability.

During the meeting, the general situation in the region was discussed.

Especially the developments in southern Lebanon and the humanitarian

and security situation in the Gaza Strip.

Minister Rashad the Egyptian General Intelligence Service also expressed Cairo’s readiness to help establish

stability in southern Lebanon and end the state of security tension there.

Affirming Egypt’s firm position in supporting Lebanon at all levels.

For his part, President Aoun conveyed his greetings

to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Minister Rashad.

We welcome any Egyptian effort that contributes to halting

Israeli attacks on Lebanon and restoring stability there.
