Cairo, Egypt – Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, held a series of intensive phone calls with his counterparts in a number of European and Western countries.
This comes as part of Egypt’s diplomatic efforts to coordinate international action to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
The calls included Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy; José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain; Johann Vadephul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany; and Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada.
Preparing for the International Reconstruction Conference
Abdel-Ati discussed with his counterparts the ongoing preparations for Egypt to host the International Conference on Early Recovery, Reconstruction and Development in Gaza, scheduled to be held in Cairo next November.
The Egyptian minister emphasized the importance of immediately beginning the implementation of early recovery plans and launching reconstruction projects in Gaza. He also emphasized the need for this to be done in accordance with a comprehensive vision that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people.
It is consistent with the Arab Islamic Reconstruction Plan and former US President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan.
Praise for the Egyptian role
For their part, the foreign ministers of the four countries expressed their deep appreciation for the pivotal and leading role played by Egypt in supporting regional stability and de-escalation efforts.
The ministers affirmed their countries’ commitment to continuing close coordination with Cairo, both in preparing for the international conference and on issues related to early recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
