United States – Following the release of an unpublished annex to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, there are growing indications that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF),

The US-backed organization responsible for distributing humanitarian aid in the Strip may suspend its operations in the near future.

Details of the agreement and its effects

According to The Times of Israel, the document attached to the agreement stipulates that responsibility for receiving and distributing aid will be transferred to UN agencies. Responsibility will also be transferred to international organizations, the Red Crescent Society, and countries active in the region.

This change represents a major shift in the structure of aid delivery, as it will remove the Global Humanitarian Relief Fund from the pivotal role it has played in recent months.

What is the role of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)?

The Global Humanitarian Relief Fund was established through a joint American-Israeli initiative and quickly became the main coordinator of aid distribution operations in Gaza.

Despite repeated doubts surrounding its funding, field performance, and the effectiveness of its logistical mechanisms.

Recent weeks have witnessed incidents of injury and chaos at aid distribution sites, increasing international pressure to restructure humanitarian efforts.

American position

In an interview with Haaretz, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed that GHF activities are continuing. He also denied reports of civilian casualties around distribution centers.

However, the inclusion of a clause excluding the organization from the ceasefire agreement is widely viewed as evidence of waning international confidence. There is doubt about the organization’s ability to manage the complex humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Possible repercussions

If GHF operations cease, it would represent a major shift in the nature of relief efforts. This comes at a time when the Gaza Strip is suffering from a dire humanitarian crisis, with severe shortages of food, medicine, and basic services.

Observers believe that returning responsibility to UN and official bodies could enhance the effectiveness of aid distribution. This could reduce the potential politicization of this process.

The coming days will be crucial in determining the future of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and its role in supporting civilians in Gaza.

While the international community looks forward to enhancing transparency and efficiency in humanitarian efforts, away from political tensions and organizational imbalances.
