According to state media on Saturday, Kim Jong Un called for the continued development of North Korea’s armed forces into an “invincible” entity.
In a speech on Friday evening, Kim Jong Un reiterated his intention to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities, but he did not directly threaten South Korea or the United States, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap News.
The North Korean leader stressed that the country’s sovereignty can only be “defended and guaranteed by force”.
“Our military must continue to grow into an invincible entity, destroying all threats approaching the scope of our self-defense, thanks to its political, military, and technical superiority that crushes the enemy. It must continually strengthen itself to become an elite armed force that achieves victory after victory through the power of morality and discipline,” he said.
