Washington, United States – US President Donald Trump said he wants to know what Ukraine plans to do with US-made Tomahawk missiles before agreeing to supply them.
He justified this by saying that he did not want to escalate the Russian war against Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the United States to sell Tomahawk missiles to European countries to send them to Ukraine in turn.
The Tomahawk missiles have a range of 2,500 kilometers.
Which puts Moscow within range of the Ukrainian arsenal if Kiev obtains it.
Asked by White House reporters on Monday whether he had made a decision on supplying Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, Trump did not rule it out and said he had “made some kind of decision” on the matter.
He added: “I think I want to know what they will do with it.. Where will they send it? I think I have to ask this question.”
“I would like to ask some questions,” he added. I am not looking to escalate that war.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a video clip published on Sunday that if Washington supplies Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles to launch long-range strikes deep inside Russia, this will lead to the destruction of Moscow’s relationship with Washington.
