Copenhagen, Denmark – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned during a summit of leaders of European Union member states on Thursday that Russia has the potential to violate airspace anywhere on the continent.
He also offered to share his country’s experience to help confront this threat.
“If the Russians dare to launch drones against Poland, or violate the airspace of northern European countries, this means that this can happen anywhere,” Zelensky said at a meeting of heads of state and government in Copenhagen.
He added: “In Western Europe and in the South, we need fast and effective response and defense forces that know how to deal with female drones”.
The Copenhagen summit continues for the second day in a row, as European leaders meet in the Danish capital to discuss confronting the Russian marches.
About 50 European presidents are participating in the meeting, which focuses on the war in Ukraine and European security.
The summit comes after the 27 European Union leaders met on Wednesday, also in Copenhagen.
Earlier, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a statement that the Ukrainian president will meet with European leaders in Copenhagen on Thursday.
She added that he will deliver a speech before the European Political Group, a group of about 50 heads of state and government in Europe.
Issues discussed by leaders include how to strengthen Ukraine, the security situation in Europe, and ways to make the continent safer.
Discussions on European security will also address economic security and the fight against drug trafficking and migration.
