BEIJING, China – The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday warned Western countries, led by the United States, against any moves aimed at undermining Beijing’s legal position at the United Nations. They stressed that General Assembly Resolution 2758 embodies the “One China” principle and cannot be violated.

In an official statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory. It stressed that the Beijing government is the sole legitimate representative of all of China. The Ministry noted that any attempt to turn back the wheel of history will fail miserably.

She added that the United States and its allies remained the biggest obstacle to China’s restoration of its legitimate seat at the United Nations. These obstacles arose through previous attempts to create what is known as “two Chinas.” However, these efforts were met with overwhelming international rejection. Beijing emphasized that the Taiwan issue is a purely internal matter. They stated that China is prepared to work toward peaceful reunification. Nevertheless, China will not allow any force to separate the island from China under any circumstances.
