New York, USA – UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned during the opening of the 80th session of the General Assembly in New York. He pointed to the worsening humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip. He stressed that the scale of killing and suffering has exceeded all limits.
Call for a ceasefire

Cutting aid = death sentence
The Secretary-General highlighted the seriousness of the decline in humanitarian aid. He described it as “a death sentence for innocent people and a theft of the future of future generations.”
The two-state solution is the only option
Guterres affirmed that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace. He called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and revive this process, which has been frozen for years.
