Doha, Qatar – Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari confirmed that the recent Israeli raid on Doha changed the regional perception of Israel. He explained that Qatar will discuss with US President Donald Trump the new threat posed by Israel in the region.
The strike and its repercussions
Al-Ansari noted that the attack targeting a meeting of Hamas leaders on September 9 was “a moment that changed Qatari society forever.” He emphasized that the strike was unjustified. It stemmed from Qatar’s choice to play an active role in peace efforts.
Implications for the Gulf Cooperation Council
The Qatari official explained that the raid’s repercussions extended beyond the borders of the Gulf states. It changed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s perception of the Israeli threat for the first time in the bloc’s history.
Country priorities
Al-Ansari noted that the priority now is to address the attack, protect Qatar’s sovereignty, and hold those responsible accountable. He emphasized that the attack raises questions about the viability of diplomatic talks between Israel and Hamas.
Diplomatic Solution
The official emphasized that a diplomatic solution is the only way out of the current situation. He also indicated that the international community, with the support of the United States, can ensure the security of the peoples of the region.
