Gaza, Palestine – The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced, on Wednesday, the interruption of Internet and terrestrial communications services. This affects the Gaza and North Gaza governorates.
The authority said that the new outage was “due to the continued Israeli aggression. It is also due to the targeting of key paths of the network”.
This communications outage coincided with a warning issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza. They warned that health services would be completely halted due to the fuel supply ban.
The ministry reported on Wednesday that “the Israeli occupation is deliberately thwarting the World Health Organization’s attempts to bring fuel into hospitals in Gaza Governorate.”
She said, “The occupation insists on preventing the World Health Organization from using alternative methods. They are blocking fuel delivery to hospitals in Gaza and the north.”
She added, “Preventing the supply of fuel needed to operate generators in Gaza hospitals means a complete halt to health services.”
She pointed out that “the crisis threatens to stop the work of the Al-Sahaba Medical Complex, the Public Service Hospital, and the Central Oxygen Station. Furthermore, ambulances and other hospitals will stop within just days.”
She stressed that “the shutdown of the central oxygen station and ambulances in Gaza Governorate means that we are facing a serious health and humanitarian disaster.”
She also called on all concerned parties to intervene urgently. It is crucial to ensure access to the fuel needed for hospitals in Gaza Governorate.
