Sanaa, Yemen – The Houthi military spokesman announced on Monday that the group had launched a ballistic missile towards the Scarlett Ray ship in the Red Sea.
Before that, two British maritime organizations said that they had received two reports of an incident in the Red Sea.
The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority announced a Houthi attack on a ship in the Red Sea.
She said that a ship reported “an unknown object falling near it, and a strong explosion was heard”.
She indicated that all the ship’s crew members are fine, and that the ship is continuing its journey.
In turn, the British maritime security company Ambry reported that the ship was flying the Liberian flag. It was owned by Israel and was among the Houthis’ targets.
Since 2023, the Yemeni Houthi group has been attacking ships in the Red Sea.
Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi threatened Israel with an escalating course of attacks without retreat or weakness.
This came after an Israeli attack on Thursday. The attack killed the prime minister of the Houthi government and security and political leaders.
Commenting on the Israeli operation during which a number of members of the “Houthi government” were killed, Al-Houthi said that the movement’s military path towards Israel is fixed.
He added that missile strikes, drone attacks and naval blockades will be intensified.
