Texas, United States – Republican candidate from Texas, Valentina Gomez, sparked widespread criticism after posting a video on social media showing her burning the Holy Quran.

In the video, Gomez is seen setting fire to the Quran using a flame gun.

She also repeated inflammatory phrases such as: “I will end Islam in Texas, may God help me”. Muslims commit rape and murder to control Christian countries.

She also urged viewers to support her politically, saying: “Help me get to Congress so you never have to face Muslim stones”.

Gomez is running in the 2026 elections as a Republican representative for the 31st district of Texas.

The video sparked condemnations from political leaders, religious groups and social media users.

They also expressed concern about the rise in hate speech and religious intolerance ahead of the elections.

In December 2024, Gomez staged a controversial show in New York, where she shot a doll she had erected as a symbol of an immigrant.

It also called at the time for immigrants to be publicly hanged if they were accused of committing violent crimes against Americans.

He later deleted the video and blocked her Instagram account.

Gomez did not receive much electoral support, as she received only 7.4 percent of the votes in the Republican primary elections, and came in sixth place.

Valentina Gomez was born a political activist and real estate and financial investor in Medellin, Colombia on May 8, 1999.

She moved to the United States with her family in 2009 and settled in New Jersey.
