PARIS, France – France has summoned the US ambassador to Paris, Charles Kushner.

This came after a letter he sent to President Emmanuel Macron, in which he claimed that Paris was not doing enough to combat anti-Semitism.

The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Kushner will appear before the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs on Monday.

She stressed that his allegations were “unacceptable” and constituted “a violation of international law and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs”.

Moreover, it “does not befit the level of trust between allies.”

The ministry added that French authorities are “fully mobilized” to address the increase in anti-Semitic acts since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.

She described these actions as “unbearable”.

The dispute comes days after Macron rejected Netanyahu’s accusations that France’s intention to recognize a Palestinian state fuels anti-Semitism.

It is noteworthy that Kushner, a real estate developer, is the father of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
