Kiev, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Kiev is ready for constructive cooperation. He supports holding a tripartite summit between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.
Zelensky wrote on the X platform: “Ukraine confirms its readiness to work as hard as possible to achieve peace.”
He added: “We support President Trump’s proposal to hold a tripartite meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia”.
“Ukraine emphasizes that key issues can be discussed at the leadership level. The trilateral summit is appropriate for this,” he said.
Zelensky explained that Trump briefed him on the “key points” in his talks with Putin.
He stressed that the phone call with Trump and European leaders discussed “positive signals” from America regarding security guarantees.
Zelensky: Europe is part of the solution
“Europe must be part of the talks at all stages,” the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky also announced on Saturday that he would travel to Washington on Monday. He will discuss “ending killing and war” with Trump.
Earlier Saturday, the White House said Trump had a lengthy phone call with Zelensky.
The White House added that Trump then spoke to NATO leaders after a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, Reuters reported.
A European Commission spokesman also confirmed that Trump briefed European leaders on the results of his summit with Putin.
The summit between Trump and Putin in Alaska ended without any statements issued regarding a possible ceasefire in Ukraine. No tangible results were announced.
