Saratov, Russia – The governor of the Russian Saratov region said on Sunday that a person was killed. Additionally, a number of Russian residential apartments and an industrial facility were damaged in a Ukrainian drone attack. The attack occurred in the southern Russia.
Roman Busargin said on Telegram that residents were evacuated after the wreckage of a drone damaged three apartments. The attack occurred in the night hours. He explained that “a number of residents needed medical assistance”. Assistance was provided on site, and one person was taken to hospital. Unfortunately, one person died.
Busargin did not specify which industrial facility was damaged.
The Russian Defense Ministry said air defense units destroyed 121 Ukrainian drones overnight, including eight over the Saratov region.
The ministry only reports on the number of drones shot down by Russian defense units. It does not report on the number launched by Ukraine.
Ukrainian media reported, including (R).B.K-Ukraine), that a fire broke out in an oil refinery in the city of Saratov, the administrative center of the region. This occurred after a drone attack.
Oil industry sources said a Rosneft-owned refinery in Saratov was forced to suspend operations earlier this year for security reasons. They cited Ukrainian drone attacks as the reason.
The Russian Civil Aviation Authority (Rosaviatsia) announced via Telegram that flights to and from Saratov were suspended for about two hours this morning. This was done to ensure airspace security.
