Washington, United States – United Airlines suspended its main flights at several major US airports – including the notoriously problematic Newark Airport – for several hours on Wednesday, due to a temporary technical malfunction, and warned of continuing delays even after the ground ban was lifted.
On Thursday, the US Federal Aviation Administration “FAA” issued an order to stop many United Airlines flights across the United States for technical reasons.
Hours after the decision to stop, United Airlines said in a statement: “Due to a technical issue, we have suspended United’s main flights at its departure airports”, and the statement read: “We expect additional flight delays this evening as we work to resolve this issue (…) Safety is our top priority, and we will work with our customers to get them to their destinations.
The decision included several major airports, including Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and San Francisco, and O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Denver, and Houston.
