Paris, France – French local media, citing sources in the local administration in southern France, said that a large fire is raging in one of the areas.

The mountainous terrain of southern France is particularly vulnerable to such fires. It was reported that more than 2,400 hectares of land and crops were burned. This was a result of the fire that broke out in Ribout.

BFMTV quoted Colonel Alexander Gosar, who holds a position in the Civil Defense Authority. He stated that 4,500 hectares in southern France were damaged by the fire that broke out in Ribout.

According to Gosar, the flames spread unusually quickly, and the fire was unlikely to be extinguished by evening. More than 1,000 firefighters also battled the blaze, which was fanned by strong winds in southern France.
