Voice of Emirates – A recent scientific study has warned that tanning beds not only damage the skin superficially, but also accelerate aging at the genetic level. They also double the risk of developing malignant skin cancer (melanoma).
The study explained that repeated exposure to ultraviolet radiation from these devices leads to DNA damage in skin cells. This damage contributes to the appearance of premature wrinkles and dark spots. Furthermore, it increases the likelihood of cellular transformation into malignant tumors.
The study recommended avoiding tanning beds. Instead, it advised relying on safer alternatives such as topical tanning products. These alternatives help maintain healthy skin and prevent long-term risks.
