  • Final warning before the “point of no return”

Berlin, Germany – In a dramatic development that could alter the course of the escalating conflict in the region, German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadephul revealed on Friday that intensive, indirect diplomatic contacts are currently underway between the United States and Iran. He indicated that the two sides are planning a direct meeting “very soon” on Pakistani soil.

German mediation and leaks about the anticipated meeting

In remarks to Deutschlandfunk radio, Wadephul confirmed that information available to Berlin indicates that preparations are well underway. The German minister stated, “Based on the information I have, indirect contacts have taken place, and there are genuine preparations for a direct meeting that appears likely to occur very soon in Pakistan.”

These statements come as global markets await any glimmer of hope for de-escalation. The military escalation has cast a shadow over global energy supplies.

Trump gives diplomacy a 10-day deadline

Coinciding with these leaks, US President Donald Trump announced via his Truth Social platform a surprise decision to postpone the imminent attack on Iran’s power grid and power plants for 10 days. He stated that the new timeframe was 8:00 PM on Monday, April 6. Trump reiterated that negotiations were ongoing and progressing “very well,” attacking what he called “fake news” reports that questioned the effectiveness of the dialogue.

However, Trump’s remarks were not without threatening language, as he warned that Iran would face “its worst nightmares” if diplomatic efforts failed. He described the previous Iranian leadership as “crazy.” He also claimed that US intervention had prevented a threat to the entire world.

Final warning before the “point of no return”

The US president issued a strongly worded message in his post, saying, “We better get this straight as soon as possible before it’s too late, because once it’s too late, there’s no going back and things won’t be right.”

These statements reflect a state of “brinkmanship diplomacy,” where Washington is exerting maximum military pressure to extract concessions at the upcoming meeting in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the international community is watching closely to see what the next ten days will bring.
