New YORK, USA – Burgill Medical City has signed a medical and academic collaboration with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York. One of the centers accredited by the US National Cancer Institute (NCI). To establish a specialized program for thoracic oncology surgery in the UAE. This establishes advanced, multidisciplinary care for patients with lung, esophageal, and chest wall cancers, and reduces the need for patients to travel abroad for treatment.
The agreement was signed at the center’s headquarters in New York City. Under it, Burjeel Medical City will establish a specialized chest oncology surgery service to treat lung, esophageal and chest wall cancers. Providing treatment options including robotic surgeries, thoracoscopic-assisted surgeries (VATS), and traditional open surgeries. Based on each patient’s clinical condition, this enhances the provision of this type of advanced care in Abu Dhabi.
The program will be integrated into the multidisciplinary care system at the Bergel Oncology Institute (BCI). It includes thoracic oncology surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pulmonology, pathology, and diagnostic radiology. Ensuring integrated care extending from diagnosis to surgery, recovery and follow-up.
Chest Oncology Board meetings will allow complex cases to be discussed with Roswell Park Center experts. Benefit from academic reviews and second medical opinions for selected cases. With the harmonization of treatment pathways according to international standards, including the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines.
