Dubai, UAE – The Economist magazine ranked Abu Dhabi first in the Middle East as the best city to live in 2026. Dubai followed in second place regionally, in the Economic Information Unit Index, which measures the quality of life in 173 cities around the world.
The classification is based on five main criteria, including: health care, culture and environment, education, infrastructure, and stability. To assess the suitability of cities for living and working, particularly for foreign employees for whom data are used to determine living allowances.
The magazine pointed out that Abu Dhabi and Dubai remain among the most prominent destinations in the region. Thanks to the quality of services, advanced infrastructure, and the level of education and healthcare. Along with the modern urban environment that attracts residents from all over the world.
