Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE continues to solidify its leading position in regenerative medicine and stem cell-based therapies.

The country is developing an integrated healthcare system based on innovation and cutting-edge technologies.

This reinforces its position as a regional and international hub for advanced treatments.

Integrated system for medical innovation

The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center stands out as a leading national model in this field.

It combines clinical care, scientific research, and biomanufacturing according to the highest international standards.

This enables the expansion of stem cell applications to treat intractable diseases.

The center also utilizes stem cells in bone marrow transplantation and gene therapies.

The center leads a research ecosystem in collaboration with Khalifa University and New York University Abu Dhabi.

It also collaborates with AstraZeneca and employs artificial intelligence technologies in diagnosis and treatment development.

High-quality therapeutic achievements

Yas Clinic, the clinical arm of the center, has made significant progress in applying cellular and gene therapies.

These include CAR-T cell therapy, a treatment using genetically modified immune cells.

In addition, there are innovative treatments for complex immune diseases.

The UAE also witnessed the first implementation of CRISPR-Cas9 gene therapy using the drug CASGEVY.

This treatment is used to treat inherited blood disorders such as sickle cell anemia and thalassemia.

This is a first-of-its-kind achievement in the country.

The UAE has recorded remarkable successes in bone marrow transplantation,

including complex cases for patients of various nationalities.

It has achieved high success rates comparable to leading international centers.

Advanced indicators and a promising future

The center, in collaboration with Yas Clinic, performed over 113 bone marrow transplants in 2025, bringing the total to 240 since 2022.

The center has achieved outstanding treatment outcomes and survival rates of up to 80%.

This progress reflects the UAE’s commitment to developing its healthcare sector according to the latest global standards.

The country also strives to promote innovation in the field of biomedicine,

which contributes to improving quality of life and providing advanced treatment solutions for intractable diseases.
