Abu Dhabi, UAE – Ittihad Kalba forced a thrilling 2-2 draw against their host Al Wahda, in the match that brought the two teams together at Al Nahyan Stadium, as part of the 22nd round of the ADNOC Pro League.
Al Wahda took an early lead through Christian Benteke in the 9th minute, after he capitalized on a loose ball inside the penalty area and fired it past the goalkeeper. Omar Khribin doubled the lead in the 19th minute from a penalty kick, which he had earned and successfully converted.
In the second half, Kalba almost got back into the game after the referee awarded them a penalty kick following a claim by Saman Qaddous, before it was cancelled after a video review.
Al Wahda continued their attempts and almost scored the third goal in the 66th minute, but goalkeeper Sultan Al Mandhari made a brilliant save from Khribin’s header.
Kalba came back strongly in the final minutes, with René Rivas narrowing the gap in the 69th minute with a well-placed header. Just two minutes later, the same player scored the equalizer with a shot from inside the penalty area.
