Lisbon, Portugal – The Emirates – XRG cycling team was crowned champion of the Figueira Champions Classic 2026.
After his cyclist Antonio Morgado made a decisive final push, achieving a distinguished achievement for the team in Portugal.
It also added another victory to the series of early successes this season.
Morgado once again proved his superiority in the city of Figuera da Foz, after withstanding the strong challenge from Alex Aranboro from the (Covides) team in the final meters.
To become the first cyclist to successfully defend his title during the four editions of the race.
The one-day race held yesterday extended for a distance of 177.8 kilometers.
It was included in the UCI ProSeries, where it took place under difficult coastal winds.
A separate group set off early, and with about 6 kilometers remaining, a select group was formed that included Morgado, Aranboro, and Brandon McNulty, following strong attacks on the undulating paths.
In the final kilometers, Morgado acted with tactical intelligence.
He stayed close to Aranboro’s first start before launching his strong push and clinching victory, recording his second consecutive victory in this event, and his second victory in the 2026 season after his previous victory in the “Trovio Calvia”.
This victory represents the second victory for Emirates – XRG on the same day.
This came after Marc Soler won the overall title at Vuelta Murcia.
The second stage of the race was stopped due to strong winds that were considered unsafe, which neutralized the competition.
