Muscat, Sultanate of Oman – The UAE national team for people with disabilities raised its tally to 29 medals in the fifth West Asian Paralympic Games “Muscat 2026”.
6 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze.
This came after adding 15 new medals in the second day’s competitions, including 4 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze, after winning 14 medals on the first day.
The gold medals on the second day came from Mohammed Wahdani, who won the gold medal in the 200-meter wheelchair race.
Mohamed Youssef Othman won the gold medal in the 800-meter wheelchair race, along with Mohamed Al Kaabi’s gold medal in the discus throw, and Mariam Al Zayoudi’s gold medal in the shot put.
The three silver medals were won by Mohammed Yousef Othman in the 200-meter wheelchair race, Ahmed Al Hosani in the javelin throw, and Sultan Al Shamsi in the same competition.
As for the 8 bronze medals, Mubarak Al Dhanhani won the bronze medal in javelin throwing.
Ahmed Nawad also won two bronze medals in the 200 and 800 meter wheelchair races, while Abdulaziz Al-Kindi won a bronze medal in javelin throwing.
Abdullah Al-Masbahi added another bronze medal in the same competition, and Rashid Al-Zayoudi won a bronze medal in javelin throwing.
In the women’s category, Maryam Al-Matroushi won a bronze medal in shot put, while Siham Al-Rashidi won a bronze medal in javelin throwing.
In the blind goalball competition, our national team achieved a major victory over its Syrian counterpart with a score of 12-2, before losing to the Saudi team.
The UAE national team will continue to participate in the tournament until February 8, amid ambitions to continue winning medals and enhance the UAE’s presence in Paralympic sports at the regional and continental levels.
