Dubai, UAE – During his visit to the UAE, Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform Party, affirmed that his party intends to ban the Muslim Brotherhood should it come to power. He cited the UAE’s experience in dealing with the group and emphasized that his party has much to learn from the Gulf state. Farage addressed Emirati officials, including Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, at a reception held on the rooftop of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dubai. The event, attended by approximately eighty people, was part of political activities related to the Reform Party and was covered by the British channel GB News. Addressing the audience, Farage said, “We have much to learn from you, gentlemen. We know you are our friends.” He added, “Post-Brexit London, Reform London, will remember you.”
He also praised the UAE for its success in banning the Muslim Brotherhood and confirmed that his government would follow a similar approach.
Farage’s speech comes as part of his efforts to strengthen his party’s ties with the UAE, with which the UK shares common political and economic interests. This is particularly evident in the context of political Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood. Last September, Farage pledged to ban the Muslim Brotherhood, citing similar actions taken by other Gulf states. Reports indicate that the Reform Party leader is seeking a meeting with the UAE’s president, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, as part of this broader cooperation. Banning the Muslim Brotherhood is a common policy in several countries in the region, including the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. These countries classify the group as a threat to national security, despite its insistence that it is a peaceful organization seeking to participate in the political process democratically.
