Abu Dhabi, UAE – Diplomatic efforts to reach a peace agreement in Ukraine continue. A new round of talks between US officials and Russian representatives is being held in Abu Dhabi, following a previous meeting in Geneva.

A US official confirmed to the BBC that the two sides will meet in Abu Dhabi. The aim is to continue discussions on the revised peace plan for Ukraine. The plan has been undergoing intensive review in recent days.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the changes to the plan. He noted that the initial version, which contained 28 points, had been shortened. He explained that “many correct elements have been taken into account.” He wrote on social media: “Now a list of the necessary steps to end the war can become possible.”

Kyiv, along with its European allies, is pressing the United States to amend the plan to avoid any concessions that would be seen as too significant for Moscow.

Zelensky indicated that further talks with US President Donald Trump would take place soon, saying: “Our team has reported on the plan of new steps… and this is indeed the right approach. I will discuss sensitive issues with President Trump.”

US and Ukrainian officials met in Geneva on Sunday to discuss the plan, while the Russian side was absent. The proposed amendments were deemed “completely unconstructive.”
