Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – The World Kickboxing Championship for Seniors and Masters opened on Sunday evening.
It will continue until November 30, at ADNEC Abu Dhabi.
The UAE will host the tournament, which is being held for the first time outside Europe, with the participation of 2,000 male and female athletes from 150 countries.
It is organized by the Emirates Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, in cooperation with the International Kickboxing Federation.
Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, Vice President of the International Muay Thai Federation, President of the Asian and Arab Muay Thai Federations, and President of the Emirates Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, stressed that hosting the tournament embodies the prestigious position of the UAE on the global sports map.
He added that the participation of 150 countries and about 2,000 athletes confirms the great confidence of the global sports community in the UAE.
It contributes to supporting the kickboxing process and consolidating its presence globally.
For his part, Roy Baker, President of the International Kickboxing Federation, praised the high organizational level at the opening ceremony in Abu Dhabi.
In addition to the UAE’s global position in hosting major international tournaments according to the highest standards.
He said that holding a tournament with this size of participation, which is the largest in the history of the International Federation of Championships, is a pivotal step in supporting the global progress of kickboxing.
