Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Emirates Golf Federation confirmed that the UAE national team will participate in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.
Which concluded on Sunday in Dubai, resulted in achieving the best Emirati results in the history of the tournament, which extends over 16 editions.
To record a new achievement for Emirati sports in one of the most prominent amateur golf tournaments in the world.
The tournament was held at the Majlis Stadium at the Emirates Golf Club, with the participation of 120 players from 41 countries, among the continent’s elite talents. Thailand’s Viva Laupakdi won the 16th edition.
Meanwhile, national team player Ahmed Skaik achieved a remarkable achievement, coming in thirteenth place after being on the top ten list throughout the competition.
Three players from the UAE national team, Ahmed Sakik, Wrayan Ahmed, and Wissam Mulan, were also able to qualify for the knockout rounds, an achievement that reflects the great development that the game is witnessing in the country.
The UAE Golf Federation received wide praise from the Asia Pacific Golf Federation and the prestigious American club Agusta, in recognition of its success in organizing the tournament for the second time on the country’s soil with full marks from the evaluation committees.
Major General Abdullah Al Hashemi, President of the Emirates Golf Federation and Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Federation, expressed his pride in the results achieved by the national team players.
He stressed that the qualification of three players to the final stage is an unprecedented achievement.
He pointed out that this qualification is an exceptional achievement by all standards, reflecting the volume of work and development that the game has witnessed in the Emirates in recent years.
