Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Etihad Airways has announced a major new destination in the Middle East: the Syrian capital, Damascus.

 As of June 2026.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, this new route reflects the growing demand from travelers in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for direct flights to Damascus.

These new services provide travelers from Syria with direct access to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and from there to Al-Ittihad’s extensive global network.

This is with smooth connecting flights via Zayed International Airport.

Flights to Damascus will depart in June 2026, with four weekly flights on Etihad Airways Airbus A320 aircraft.

It includes eight seats in business class and 150 seats in economy class.

Damascus became the 28th destination to which the company announced operations during the year.

Antonwaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, said: “This new route reflects our commitment to connecting people to places that matter to them. We are proud to expand our network to Damascus, one of the world’s most important cities in history and culture, and to support the Syrian people by providing direct flights to and from Abu Dhabi, in addition to convenient connecting flights across our global network.”
