Beijing, China – China’s Ministry of Commerce has accused the Dutch government of failing to cooperate with Beijing to resolve the ongoing dispute over the Netherlands’ acquisition of the chipmaker Nexperia

.

She warned that the continuation of the Dutch position could lead

to further disruptions in the global supply chains of the semiconductor industry.

The Dutch government announced on September 30th the status of the company “Nexperia”,

Which is based in the Netherlands, under its direct control,

She justified her decision with concerns related to national security

due to the company’s ties to its Chinese parent company, Wingtech.

Beijing imposes restrictions on Nextperia

“Nexperia” is one of the leading companies producing

electronic chips widely used in the automotive industry.

The Chinese response came days after Beijing imposed restrictions

on exports of “Nexperia” products manufactured in China.

This move has alarmed European car manufacturers, who have rushed

to submit requests for exemptions from the restrictions to avoid production disruptions.

Negative effects

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement published on

its official website that Beijing had acted “responsibly and in a constructive spirit”.

This is achieved by offering limited exemptions from restrictions.

While “the Netherlands insists on a unilateral approach

without taking concrete steps to resolve the problem,”

She added that this situation “will inevitably exacerbate

the negative impacts on the global semiconductor supply chain.”

Balanced solution

China called on the Dutch government to “stop interfering in the internal affairs of Nexperia”.

And to work towards finding a balanced solution that serves the interests of both sides.

She noted that continued escalation could negatively impact

technological cooperation between China and Europe.

American pressure

This tension comes at a time when Europe is trying

to balance its economic relations with China,

And its security concerns related to reliance

on Chinese technologies and materials,

Meanwhile, US pressure is mounting on European allies

to restrict Beijing’s investments in sensitive sectors.
