Cairo, Egypt – Egypt continues its efforts to promote moderate thought and disseminate the values of religious moderation both locally and internationally. This is achieved through training programs for foreign imams and preachers at two leading institutions: Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Egyptian Dar Al-Iftaa.

Imams and preachers from more than 30 Arab and Islamic countries participated in these programs. These countries include Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Notably, there are participants from other African and Asian countries as well.

These programs focus on presenting correct religious concepts. They introduce participants to the foundations of a moderate understanding of Islam. Additionally, they train participants to confront extremist ideas and manage intellectual and cultural challenges.

The training also includes communication and community service skills, as well as comparative cross-cultural studies. This contributes to preparing preachers capable of constructive dialogue and conveying the true image of moderate Islam.

These initiatives come within the framework of a national strategy to promote religious and cultural stability. The goal is to counter extremist ideology at regional and international levels, especially given the challenges related to ideological terrorism. They also address the negative influence of extremist ideas on social media.

The programs aim to enhance cooperation between Egypt and beneficiary countries, enabling the exchange of religious and cultural expertise. This empowers participants to spread moderation and balance in their countries. Therefore, it contributes to building tolerant societies capable of peaceful coexistence. Furthermore, the initiative reflects Egypt’s historical role in spreading moderate thought. It also affirms the status of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Dar Al-Iftaa as a global center for Islamic scholarship and moderation. This underscores Egypt’s commitment to providing a civilized model confronting extremism and promoting peace and tolerance values.
