Abu Dhabi, UAE – Al Jazira qualified for the semi-finals of the President’s Cup after securing a thrilling 2-1 victory over Bani Yas in their match on Monday evening.
Al Nahyan Stadium hosted the match between the two teams as part of the quarter-final round of the tournament.
Brazilian Vinicius Melo opened the scoring for Al Jazira in the 40th minute. After receiving a pass inside the penalty area, he successfully put it into the net.
In the second half, Bani Yas refused to give up and managed to equalize in the 86th minute through Suhail Saeed, who capitalized on a mistake by the Al Jazira goalkeeper in clearing the ball, firing it powerfully into the net.
The tie did not last long, as Al Jazira quickly regained the lead in the 87th minute through Bono de Oliveira, after a remarkable individual effort inside the penalty area which he finished with a shot that found the back of the net.
