Moscow, Russia – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa discussed the issue of Russian military bases during their talks in Moscow.
Asked whether Putin and Sharaa had discussed the issue of Russian military bases, Lavrov said, “Everything was discussed.”
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov had previously announced that the issue of Russian military bases in Syria was expected to be raised during the talks between Putin and Sharaa.
Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed earlier on Wednesday that Russia and Syria have enjoyed a special relationship spanning decades.
He pointed out that Russia’s relations with Syria have always been guided by the interests of the Syrian people.
