Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said that the “Green Hydrogen” project has produced more than 100 tons of green hydrogen. This has occurred since its launch in May 2021.

Most of it was used to produce more than 1.15 gigawatts of green energy using a hydrogen-powered engine.

Which contributed to reducing more than 515 tons of carbon emissions.

He pointed out that approximately 11 tons of hydrogen were used in various sectors.

Including refueling hydrogen vehicles via the Enoch station for future service at Expo City Dubai.

The “Green Hydrogen” project is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region. It produces hydrogen using solar energy.

The project, implemented by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in cooperation with Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy, produces about 20 kilograms of green hydrogen per hour.

The hydrogen gas tank can store up to 12 hours of hydrogen produced using solar energy.

The stored hydrogen can be used to produce energy. This is done through a hydrogen gas engine with a capacity of about 300 kilowatts of electrical energy.

The Green Hydrogen Station was designed and built to accommodate future applications and test platforms for various uses of hydrogen.

Including energy production, air, land and sea transport sectors and industry.
