Mainz, Germany – The German national team achieved a resounding 4-0 victory over their Finnish counterparts in a friendly match as part of both teams’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
The United States, Canada and Mexico will host the World Cup finals from June 11 to July 19, with 48 teams participating for the first time in the tournament’s history.
The German team imposed its control over the course of the match from the beginning, and Deniz Ondav succeeded in opening the scoring for the Germans in the 33rd minute, ending the first half with Germany leading by one goal.
As the second half began, Florian Wirtz reinforced the lead of the white-shirted team by scoring the second goal in the 47th minute, before Ondav returned and scored his second personal goal and the third for his country in the 56th minute.
Jamal Musiala concluded the German goal fest by scoring the fourth goal in the 67th minute, confirming the readiness of coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad before the start of the World Cup.
The draw for the 2026 World Cup resulted in Germany being placed in Group E alongside Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Curaçao, who are making their first appearance in the tournament.
The German national team will begin its World Cup campaign against Curaçao on June 14 in Houston, then meet Ivory Coast on June 20 in Toronto, before concluding its group stage matches against Ecuador on June 25 in East Rutherford.
