The 44th minute witnessed the turning point in the match, after the referee showed the red card to Pau Coparsi, following a review of the video technology, so the Catalan team finished the match with ten players.
Atletico quickly took advantage of the numerical disadvantage, with Julian Alvarez scoring the opening goal at the end of the first half from a superb direct free kick that found the back of the net, giving his team an important advantage before the break.

The Catalan pressure continued, with Rashford wasting another chance in the 61st minute after a brilliant run, but the defense intervened at the crucial moment.
