Paris, France – Senegal defeated Peru 2-0 in a friendly match played on French soil. This match was part of the “Lions of Teranga’s” preparations for upcoming competitions, most notably the 2026 World Cup.
The match had a special character, as the Senegalese team played in a celebratory atmosphere for the African Cup of Nations title, despite the decision of the African Football Confederation to withdraw the title and award it to Morocco, and to consider Senegal as having lost by a score of 3-0 due to their withdrawal from the match.
On the pitch, Nicholas Jackson opened the scoring for Senegal in the 41st minute, following a decisive pass from Ibrahim Mbaye. The Lions of Teranga thus finished the first half with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Senegal continued their dominance, with Ismaila Sarr adding a second goal just nine minutes later, securing the victory for his country.
This victory is Senegal’s first during the current international break, and they are scheduled to play a friendly against Gambia next Tuesday.
