Liverpool, England – Press reports have revealed moves within Liverpool to find a suitable replacement for star Mohamed Salah, given his potential departure at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Salah has been the cornerstone of the Reds’ attack for years. He has been the team’s driving force even during the most difficult periods, making replacing him a significant challenge for the coaching staff.
According to Anfield Watch, the Egyptian international is considered the greatest goalscoring winger in the club’s history, with the website emphasizing the difficulty of finding a player directly capable of replacing him in the same position.
However, a surprising name has emerged on Liverpool’s shortlist: Luis Suarez, the Sporting Lisbon striker. His impressive season, scoring 33 goals in all competitions, has made him a serious target to bolster their attacking options.
Portuguese reports, citing Correio da Manhã newspaper, indicated that Liverpool is considering the option of compensating for Salah’s goals collectively, rather than relying on a direct replacement, given Suarez’s different position as a pure striker.
The player has a release clause in his contract with Sporting Lisbon estimated at €80 million. This could prompt Liverpool’s management to make an official move in the coming period.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah is preparing to lead Liverpool after the international break when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
