Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Al Hilal achieved a resounding 5-3 victory over Al Shabab in a dramatic match held on Friday evening at the SHG Arena in Riyadh, as part of the 24th round of the Saudi Roshan League.
Fiery first half
Al Shabab started the match strongly, opening the scoring in the 13th minute through Josh Brownhill, before Al Hilal quickly equalized in the 19th minute with a powerful shot from Mohammed Kanno.
Al-Hilal turned the tables in the 31st minute, after a mistake caused confusion in Al-Shabab’s defense, with the ball bouncing off goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe and into the net, giving Al-Hilal a 2-1 lead.
The excitement didn’t stop there, as Abderrazak Hamdallah equalized for Al-Shabab in the 44th minute, but Al-Hilal refused to end the first half without taking the lead, as Kalidou Koulibaly scored the third goal in the 45+2 minute, ending the first half with Al-Hilal ahead 3-2.
Al-Hilal secures the victory early
At the start of the second half, Al-Hilal continued their pressure, adding the fourth goal in the 48th minute with a superb shot that nestled into the top corner, before Marcus Leonardo reinforced the lead with the fifth goal in the 52nd minute after following up a low cross inside the penalty area.
Al Shabab narrowed the gap in the 75th minute after a cross from Yassine Adli caused confusion in the defense and the ball found its way into Yassine Bounou’s net, making the score 5-3.

The position of the two teams
With this victory, Al-Hilal raised its tally to 58 points in third place, continuing its pursuit of the top spot, and also maintained its record free of defeats in the competition so far.
In contrast, Al Shabab’s points tally remained frozen at 25, placing them in thirteenth position, continuing their struggles in the standings.
