Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat against hosts Osasuna, in the match that brought the two teams together on Saturday evening as part of the 25th round of the Spanish League at El Sadar Stadium.
Ante Budimir opened the scoring for Osasuna in the 36th minute, and the home side finished the first half with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Brazilian Vinicius Junior managed to equalize for Real Madrid in the 73rd minute, after receiving a cross inside the penalty area and shooting it directly into the net.
But Osasuna came back and snatched the winning goal in the first minute of stoppage time through Raul Garcia, to decide the match and earn three important points.
Real Madrid’s points tally remained at 60, leaving them at risk of losing their lead should Barcelona win their next match. Meanwhile, Osasuna climbed to ninth place in the La Liga standings with 33 points.
