Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Press reports revealed on Monday the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s crisis with Saudi club Al-Nassr, after a period of tension that saw the player miss a number of matches during the past period.
According to the Portuguese newspaper “A Bola”, Al-Nasr’s management yielded to Ronaldo’s demands and, in the past few hours, settled the outstanding financial dues of a number of the club’s employees and associates.
The newspaper indicated that this step ended one of the main reasons for the dispute, but it clarified at the same time that the Portuguese star will not participate in Al-Nasr’s next AFC Champions League 2 match against Arkadag.
“Abola” added that Ronaldo’s protest was not limited to technical or contractual aspects, but extended to what it described as a social issue, as the Al-Nasr captain objected to the delay in paying the salaries of a number of the club’s employees, in a move that reflected his leadership role outside the green rectangle.
The reports also touched on the existence of disagreements between Al-Nasr’s management and the Public Investment Fund, related to what the newspaper considered unequal treatment between the major clubs in Saudi Arabia, a matter that “A Bola” covered in detail during the past few days.
Ronaldo had missed Al-Nassr’s matches against Al-Riyadh and Al-Ittihad in the Saudi League, in protest against the club’s contracting policy during the last winter transfer window.
