Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Al-Ittihad Jeddah announced on Tuesday the departure of French midfielder N’Golo Kanté from the club during the current winter transfer window.
Al-Ittihad Club announced in an official statement published on its X platform account that it has agreed to sell the remainder of Kanté’s contract, wishing him success in the next stage of his football career.
The club praised the player’s contributions since joining the team, emphasizing his role in winning the Roshan Professional League title and the King’s Cup.
Negotiations took place in recent hours between Al-Ittihad and Fenerbahçe regarding a deal that would have seen N’Golo Kanté move to the Turkish club in exchange for Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri joining the Saudi team. However, the deal has temporarily stalled due to technical issues with the transfer registration system, according to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh.
According to Turkish press reports, the transfer fee for Kanté to Fenerbahçe is between 4 and 6 million euros. His contract with Al-Ittihad was set to expire at the end of the current season.
It is worth mentioning that Kante joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 in a free transfer deal from Chelsea, and participated with the team in 104 matches in various competitions, during which he scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists.
