London, England – Sunderland forced a goalless draw against Manchester City in the match that brought them together on Thursday evening, as part of the 19th round of the English Premier League competition.
Sunderland hosted Manchester City at the Stadium of Light, in a match that saw clear dominance from the Sky Blues without translating that advantage into goals.
Manchester City started the match strongly and managed to score an early goal in the sixth minute, after Bernardo Silva followed up on Erling Haaland’s header, but the referee disallowed the goal due to offside.
In the 19th minute, Donnarumma shone, after he saved a dangerous one-on-one from Sunderland player Brian Brobbey, thus preserving Manchester City’s net.
Manchester City dominated the match and controlled possession for most of the game, but Sunderland’s solid defense prevented any goals from being scored, and the match ended in a goalless draw.
With that result, Manchester City raised its tally to 41 points in second place, while Sunderland came in seventh place with 29 points.
