Doha, Qatar – Al Sadd kept their hopes alive of qualifying for the next round of the AFC Champions League elite tournament, after defeating Shabab Al Ahli 4-2.
Shabab Al Ahli visited Al Sadd of Qatar at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, as part of the sixth round of the AFC Champions League for Elite.
Al Ahli took the lead in the 47th minute through Federico Cartabia, after he received a cross from the left and headed it into the net.
Yahya Al-Ghasani added the second goal for Shabab Al-Ahli in the 70th minute from a penalty kick, which he successfully executed.
Al Sadd narrowed the gap in the 75th minute through Mojica, after a cross from Akram Afif which he met with a shot that found the back of the net.
In the dying moments, specifically at the 90+5 minute, Tariq Suleiman scored the equalizer for Al Sadd of Qatar, after a shot from in front of the goal that found the back of the net.
Al Sadd did not settle for a draw, but turned the tables on Shabab Al Ahli, after Mojica scored the third goal in the 90+11 minute, before returning again in the 90+13 minute and scoring his third goal (a hat trick), leading his team to a valuable victory and keeping their chances alive in the competition for qualification.
With that result, Al Sadd of Qatar raised its tally to 5 points in tenth place, while Shabab Al Ahli came in fifth place with 10 points.
